He reiterated that the United States supports Israel, calling the Zionist strikes against Iran a very successful operation.

On Friday, the United States repositioned two warships to locations nearer to Israel as regional tensions escalated following Israeli airstrikes against Iran.

Two U.S. Navy destroyers, equipped with ballistic and cruise missiles, moved toward the eastern Mediterranean, according to statements from Pentagon sources cited by Politico. This deployment reaffirms President Donald Trump’s support for Israel and bolsters U.S. military assets in the area.

In October 2024, the Pentagon made a similar naval move, aiding Israel in repelling a massive barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles launched by Iran. That attack came in response to the killings of an Iranian general, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Earlier this year, the U.S. also deployed part of its fleet to the Middle East during its Red Sea campaign against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Trump later brokered a cease-fire with the Houthis in May.

In the early hours of Friday, the Israeli military struck about 100 targets inside Iran, killing civilians and military personnel—including senior commanders and nuclear scientists. The strikes also hit uranium enrichment facilities, prompting Iran to vow a “powerful response.”

In his initial reaction to the attacks, Trump on Friday urged Tehran to reach a nuclear deal, warning that after Israel’s strikes, the situation “can only get worse.” “Two months ago, I gave Iran a 60-day ultimatum to make a deal. They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they couldn’t. Now maybe they’ll get a second chance!” Trump wrote in a follow-up post on his Truth Social platform.

In a CNN interview on Friday, Trump reiterated that the United States “of course” supports Israel, calling the Zionist strikes against Iran a very successful operation. The escalation between Iran and Israel comes as nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran remain stalled. The U.S. has demanded an end to all uranium enrichment, even for civilian purposes.

A sixth round of nuclear talks had been expected this Sunday in Muscat, Oman. However, the latest Israeli strikes have diminished that possibility.
